Being on the edge of town, Mountain Rivers Lodge is easily accessible to all faciliities. However it is also on the edge of state forest, making it a secluded natural environment.
The rooms are well insulated and cosy, with thermostat-controlled electric heaters. Each unit has a double bed, bar fridge, TV with digital reception, and ensuite with beautifully warm shower. The names of the units represent the six major rivers of the Mountain Rivers region (west to east), viz: 1. Tanjil, 2. Tyers, 3. Latrobe, 4. Thomson, 5. Aberfeldy, 6. Macalister.
The central lounge area features a wood heater, large screen TV with DVD player, stereo system, and a library of books. A gallery of old photos showcases the region's gold mining heritage, and the feature 'newspaper wall' is made of a huge collage from the 'Walhalla Chronicle'.
The north-facing deck outside has a gas barbecue, table and chairs, and is a wonderful place for relaxing with a coffee overlooking Happy Jacks Creek valley. Sunrises and sunsets here are superb.
