Mountain Rivers Lodge is located in the nature based tourism town of Rawson, on the Walhalla & Mountain Rivers Trail (Tourist Route 91). Town facilities include a sports ground, BMX track and heated swimming pool.
Nearby attractions include Walhalla Historic Township, Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort, the Thomson River and Baw Baw National Park. Adventure activities available here include:
Phoenix Paintball at Rawson presents an exciting new adult team sport operating on part of the Mountain Rivers property (David or Sarah, Ph 1300 78 53 78).
Mountain-Top Experience, which also has a base at the Mountain Rivers property, runs 4WD tag-along tours and driver training courses in the rugged terrain nearby. (Ron or Andrea, Ph 5134 6876).
Rail trails and old logging tramways provide great opportunities for bushwalking or mountain bike riding. A short trail from the back of the Mountain Rivers property connects at Thomson Station with the Thomson-Erica Rail Trail and the Australian Alps Walking Track at the Poverty Point Bridge.
The nearby Thomson River is an excellent location for white water canoeing or rafting through to Cowwarr Weir. It is also one of the six big mountain rivers in the region suitable for fly fishing, especially for trout and native blackfish.
The surrounding mountains, in the last 150 years have yielded riches at goldfields such as Walhalla, Toombon, Donnelly's Creek, Russell's Creek and the Jordan River.
